Ransomware Attack Shuts Down Hoboken City Hall and Online Services

On the morning of Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Hoboken, New Jersey, experienced a ransomware attack targeting its City Hall. As a result, City Hall was closed for the day, and all online municipal services were suspended. The Municipal Court session scheduled for that day was canceled, and street sweeping operations were halted for the remainder of the day. However, waste collection services and recreational programs continued as planned.

The Hoboken Police Department, in collaboration with city administration and the IT department, initiated an investigation into the attack to determine the extent of the breach and to develop a strategy for safely restoring services. The city assured residents that updates would be provided as more information became available.
